My entire family has done some sort of blue collar job from plumbing to painting to Residential Deck Sealing. The field of plumbing, electrician, and cleaning has been running through my families blood for decades, as far back as anyone can remember . They thought that when I eventually grew up that I’d work in a mill or something. I don’t know how to use tools or anything. I’m not handy. I am scared for myself with a pair of pliers, I can’t even imagine if someone handed me a saw and told me to get to work, I would for sure hurt myself or someone else . That’s how fatalities happen. It all starts with that sort of carelessness. What I understand now that I didn’t when I was younger is that most of these trade positions are passed down through families. This occupation is somewhat like a monarchy, the son goes to work with the father and learns how to do the trade, after years and years of learning, when the father thinks it is time, the son steps up and takes the fathers position, and this is how it goes from generation to generation . So of course there was a lot of stress on me to go to work for my dad, my entire family and even my friends didn’t see how I could do anything but . Everyone was really confused when I wasn’t exactly what they thought I was going to be . I guess it really isn’t their fault, they had bred so many tradesmen . They were just set in their ways and didn’t know how to handle someone as different as I turned out to be.
